50 for 50 Idea #22: Read 10 books this year

In one of my previous 50 for 50 posts, I wrote about developing a reading habit of 10 minutes a day (or more).   Being consistent with this habit will lead to finishing more books than you could have imagined.  It will also help you develop and improve your talent and skills in the long term.

If you have a reading habit, how about committing to reading a certain number of books this year?  10 sounds like a good number.  Maybe that sounds too high.  How about 5 or 6 to finish off 2018?  Below is a suggestion list that could help you get started.  I have categorized them so that you can pick based on your own interests.

Mental Game in Tennis

These are three of my favorite books for improving your mental game in tennis.  The Inner Game of Tennis is a classic.

Sport Psychology

In Pursuit of Excellence was the first true sport psychology book that I ever read, and it was a game changer for me.  Additionally, I wrote a post about The Fighter’s Mind, and how every competitor should read that book.

Positive Psychology

Two great books on happiness and living a fulfilling life.  The How of Happiness has several research based methods for improving your life.

Coaching & Leadership

Every coach should read InSide Out Coaching.

Mindfulness

Wherever You Go, There You Are is the type of book that you want to read a few times in your life.

Productivity

For those of you who are business minded, Ray Dalio’s Principles would be well-worth your time.

Memoir

Both of these books are amazing.  If you like audio books, Bryan Cranston narrates that version and it is outstanding! (h/t Dennis Lindenberg for suggesting A Life in Parts)
