Alex JohanssonAlex Johansson is the Director of the New England Tennis Academy at Longfellow Natick (MA), and is one of the best tennis coaches in the business.  He has spent the last 16 years in junior tennis development, and has helped more than 40 players to reach their goal of playing college tennis.  Before becoming a coach, Alex was a world-ranked junior who went on to become an NCAA All-American at Texas A&M – Corpus Christi.

One of Alex’s passions in coaching tennis is figuring out how to use technology in a productive way.  To that end, he has developed a web app for player development, goal setting, and team communication called Hoplu.  He has also created a match video analysis service, TennisFilm.com, which produces comprehensive statistics and provides helpful filters to make it easier to review a performance.

In this conversation, Alex and I discuss his background, his philosophy of coaching, and his vision for the future of technology in tennis.  If you are a player or a parent of a player, you will want to listen to this conversation.  Alex is definitely one to watch in the junior tennis development world.
